Just got my iPhone 14 Pro Max, upgrading from a 12 Pro.

Got everything set up but some notifications are still going to the old one. Instagram is one. Messenger comes to both but only buzzes on the old one. WhatsApp has restored on the new one and brought across all messages, but a group chat that was receiving messages while I was setting the phone up is missing the new ones (the latest messages have arrived but I’ve no way of seeing if any are missing as I’m no longer logged in on the other phone)

I set this phone up with a transfer from the old phone, generally worked really well but I remembered whenever I get a new iPhone it doesn’t know which phone to send certain notifications to.

Any ideas how to resolve this? Both are on the latest iOS versions

Just to clear this possible issue, but have you deleted at least one of the problem apps from the old phone? Not sure about possibly WhatsApp since I do not use that, but if you still have the apps on the old device I wonder if on the App side of things if it is just registering that a notification was sent successfully to a device that allows them. If you haven't removed or wiped the old phone, I would just try one app at a time to see if that resolves the notification problems.

No, reason being I like to make sure the new one works as it should before removing. I can probably delete WA safely though, as I’m logged out on the old one. But I can’t work out why some apps are fine and others aren’t.

Completely understandable, I am the same way, maybe you could try instagram? messages should be stored on their server so deleting the app and checking to see if notifications go to the new phone shouldn't cause problems with your profile or anything. Another thing that would take some time but if the app/website allows you to force logout of that device, I know you can do that for Facebook and I am sure you can for Instagram too (maybe) and so possibly this may be another option though annoying if this is the only solution

I switched the old one off and had my wife comment on an IG photo, and that notified the new phone. I’ll leave it switched off and see if anyone else comes through
