My wife and I each bought a new Iphone 8. Setting mine up went as smooth as silk. However, on hers one of the last things that I need to do is to make the connection with Icloud, and when I try that, the phone just sits and grinds away and does nothing. I've tried every thing I can think of. The phone works ok, but she has that little red circle by the settings icon that says she needs to complete the set up and this bothers her. One unique thing is that we both use the same Apple ID which I know is kind of weird, but we have always been able to make it work in the past. Any ideas would be most appreciated.

This comment is unrelated tontice problem but she needs her own AppleID. Don’t even try to resolve this either ‘problem’ until you get one for her. AppleIDs have always been for a single person.

As for your problem, it might just be temporary, due to network or iCloud server issues.

i don't think the problem is using the same apple iCloud ID on both phones.
many of us have multiple iPhones and use the same apple ID on them.
to iOS, they are just two devices.

i can't imagine what the reason for the problem is, but if at all feasible, i would simply just erase everything on the device, sign out of everything, reset all network connections, etc etc, and start over on it.
