Currently using the new Photos (Public Beta) and love what I see. I cannot get over how quick it is.

However one thing I've seen from various videos is when you hover the cursor over the tiny thumbnails, a larger one appears so you can clearly see the photo. Its not happening with with me. Is this a feature missing from the public beta? Does anyone on the the beta have that feature?

You have to click and hold on a thumbnail to get the preview. Then drag the mouse around to see previews of other photos. When you releases the mouse, the selected photo will go fullscreen.

They should make it an option if you want to have to click and drag for the picture to get bogger. Makes sense to only have to hover the mouse of the pics.

Thank you for that, easy when you know how! :)

not working here (with the mbp trackpad). i CAN use the spacebar/quicklook, and go thru photos. but if i click & hold on a thumbnail and move the cursor, the thumbnail comes with it (seems to be standard os x behavior).

anyone else?

Are you in the most zoomed out viewing mode? (Year view). It only works in that view. Everywhere else it behaves as you described.

Edit: It appears to work in collection mode too.
To clarify, this is under the "Photos" tab not the "Album" tab.

works there; kinda useless for me, since i'd never use those views. but yes, works...

I wonder why they went with bright white background and not something a little less harsh on the eyes. Black background is only enabled viewing an individual photo or fullscreen. The latest Iphoto had black/grey background at all times. I much prefer the dark mode.

By the way do we have a definitive Photos App thread for general discussion anywhere?
