So, it looks like I need a new power supply for my Mac Pro 5,1 12-core. Do I need to get the exact refurb part, or could I substitute a new third-party supply with the same (or better) specs?

TIA,

Cheers, both... I’m in the U.K, so these would be prohibitively expensive with postage and import charges. I’ll look closer to home.

Hi,
My trusty MP 5,1 2010 A1289 is having trouble booting so I'm on the lookout for a PSU as well what symptoms did you have and what was the replacement you chose ?

My problem was actually solved when I changed the graphics card to an RX580, which is a better card than the one I had in there, but which draws less power.
