sooo.. did anyone realize the price points of the Mac Pro and how they affect the sales of any Quads and/or Dual G5s?

With a student discount, you can get a new Mac Pro with basic everything (2.0, 160GB) for under $2k...

how much are these old G5s going to go for???

They're still being sold at the same prices as before, just look down on the left side of the store.

However if the claims of even the 2.0Ghz Mac Pro beating the previous quad, it would be logical to assume that the quad would show up for less than $2000.

Of course this isn't going to happen since resale value is always high and despite a slower machine, its still going to fetch a high price simply for being an Apple machine. :(

I wasn't talking about Apple's pricing - they're not going to drop. I was talking about resale value, like on here or on eBay.

And I don't think they're going to fetch very high a price just because they're Apple computers, going off of the PB prices. Even on eBay the PBs only go for around $1200 max (15" last rev) - waaay less than they used to.

I mean, who (especially after CS3 is out) is going to pay 3k for a used Quad, when they could pay 2k for a brand new intel Quad that's 2x faster?
