Will we see the 2.0 and 2.26 in the Mini put in the Air soon?
The MacBook Air Rev B uses a different Low Voltage CPU. It's the SL9300 at 1.6 GHz, and SL9400 at 1.86 GHz. Both are Penryn but use a small form factor chip with same 45 NM technology but in different size... Basically it's called an SSF Penryn 45 NM 17V CPU.
The PROJECTED stated successor, assuming Apple sticks with this chip, is the SL9600. Was originally projected to be a 2.13 GHz, however, recent rumors state it's only going to be a 2 GHz CPU. And, the 1.86 should become the low end assuming Apple stays along same path. The new SL9600 WAS due out in April 2009, but lately I have heard NOTHING good coming from any Intel informational sources. I really don't know what's going on now.
However, I would say based on the MBA's success, and the Lenovo Low Voltage competitor, which also uses the SL9400 and SL9300, that Apple should stick with this series... So, I originally thought April or May would result in a new MBA with a 2+ GHz CPU... now, I think it will happen later since we don't have any new news. And haven't had news about it since October 2008.
Go MBA!
