New question?
Has anyone tried an upgraded, different, or faster graphics card in their Alum iMac?
Like the guy that installed a bigger faster hard drive?

Regards,
mikey

Newbie really does not know anything about this . . .

I really do not know so, I figured I would ask. It also appears as if the card that is in the imac is plenty fast enough for my purposes (regular home stuff).

I was really hoping that apple would sell upgradable graphics cards with the new MXM tech, but i knew i was hoping for to much. My 7600GT will just have to last me until my iMac no longers serves me.

There are 8800 GTX MXM cards available. The one in the picture comes with a laptop but I'm sure it's possible to get one from somewhere.

Now, all we need is to figure out if it's pin compatible (anyone prepared to spend a big pile of cash and risk both their imac and graphics card?), get some drivers (I guess we'll have 8800 series drivers in the next week or so anyhow, but will they work with a mobile part?), and a hacked bios. Oh, and somebody skilled enough to modify the imac cooling system to suit.
