Just saw that Ati released the new low cost 6670, 6570, and 6450, anyone know if you could possible put these in a 1,1 Mac pro, of course after flashing using Zues or from a PC?

I'm also wondering about this, especially compared to other cards.

Ive been looking into getting a new video card for my 1,1 mac pro for some time but I dont want to pay upwards of 250$ for an apple one just to find out its uncompatable with the mac pro, or drop 250$ on a card that i can get for 150$ on newegg and flash it :p

Haven't we already established the 5770 is compatible with all Mac Pros?

Yeah, I believe the 5770 will work with the '06 models, but you need at least SL 10.6.4 (I think) in order to have functioning MDPs.

You need 10.6.4 for the cards to work on any machine, but I believe with any version of OS X you can get basic display, even over MDP.

Just curious: what was the final verdict on the 5870 and the '06/'07 models?

YES

However, it's probably better to get a 5770 as you will be bottlenecked by other parts of your machine and won't be able to take full advantage of the 5870's POWAH
