Hey everyone, about 2 weeks ago I installed a stick of one gig from Crucial into my 1ghz Powerbook G4, taking the total from 512 to 1280, however, I haven't noticed that much of a difference, but during start up, when I try to open some apps like Mail, iChat, and/or Safari, it becomes sluggish and the icons bounce on the dock 6-7 times before opening, this is like 5 minutes after start up, however, once I have opened them, later on in the day when I reopen them, they open faster, is my new RAm slowing my computer is it just me?

Is the RAM you installed the right speed for your computer? My Mac is slow to "get going" when I first turn it on too but, then speeds up. But, with all that RAM it shouldn't be slow at all. Very odd indeed. Have you tried to repair disk permissions? Also maybe if you want put the old RAM back in and see if it works quicker...maybe you have a defective RAM stick...although that sounds a little far-fetched.

The thing I've found in the past is that RAM either works or it doesn't There's no half-way point where it "kinda works".
Try those disc repair options mentioned above and if that doesn't help, backup and re-install!
