So I finally decided to get 4GB of ram for my iMac since they are practically giving it away these days.
I install it, boot up the computer, everythings fine...using the computer for about 2-3 minutes and it restarts.
Figured maybe this was a one time thing. Goes right back to my desktop...I start opening some programs and it restarts again. This time though, it was doing the "beep.............beep" ..from what I've read, that one beep means that there is no ram in the system.
Anyone have any idea what could have happened? I took the ram out and went back to my old ram and everythings fine. I figured maybe I had bad ram but would it work briefly? Did it fry or something?
This is disappointing , i 2 day aired it to have it by today.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Intel Core 2 Duo (I think Extreme?) 2.8 GHz
The ram I got was from Crucial:
says 2GB 200PIN DDR2 SODIMM 256MX64
The ram I had in there was Samsung
2Rx8 PC2-5300S-555-12-E3
This Samsung is back in there now and the computer says:
2GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM
So it sounds like I got the right thing from Crucial doesnt it?
I dunno....I havent bought ram in years and last time it just popped in and flew.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
