New recipient limit after update

I just installed the carrier update to activate MMS on my 3GS and noticed that I am now limited to 10 recipients, whether SMS or MMS. I verified on my wife's phone (that doesn't have the update yet), and her's let me go well past 10.

Anyone know why they did this?? I don't "mass" text message very often, but it's nice to be able to.

I just noticed this "feature".

I'm guessing that they limit it to 10 recipients to help stop SMS spam? Maybe it's a bandwidth thing...if you have to copy/paste or reattach a pic for every 10 people, maybe you'll keep it to 10 recipients...but I'm paying to use the data network...and I'm not sending spam!

Anyway, I regularly text more than 10 people to announce meeting plans and this new feature makes that very difficult. Not only can I not create a group of contacts and send a message to that group, now I can't even do that manually.

Using Google, I was not able to find anyone else who is complaining about this so I'm guessing I'll just have to revert back to 3.0 to get it back. I'll take the ability to send to multiple recipients over the ability to send a picture any day.

I noticed this too...also when you copy and paste an image then send it, the recipient never gets it.

I just downloaded textPlus. It seems to work ok. It's not one of those "guess the carrier and send via email address" applications, it uses a messaging service and short codes to route messages.

So far it seems to work ok. It can be set to push notifications to your phone or send responses directly to your number via normal SMS.

TextPlus is a workaround but the best one that I've seen yet. I'm still voting for Apple to remove the 10 recipient restriction.

*UPDATE*
After using TextPlus once, I will no longer. I sent a short message that when sent, was long enough to split between two messages. Too much header/footer information for recipients to understand clearly. I didn't count characters but I imagine that even a zero-length message would get split in two due to the extra information
