Video Monkey is a free video encoding application exclusively for Mac. It was created after the demise of the great tool Visual Hub. Video Monkey borrows heavily from the Visual Hub video conversion tool, both conceptually and from the original code dump posted to SourceForge as TranscoderRedux.

Seems to work with apple stuff, looks like other formats down't work yet.

I'm clinging to my copy of visualhub for dear life. If I ever am unable to get that again I'll be disappointed, but I'll check this out.

There's also one out there called gearshift or handbreak or something. A few people mentioned it here. Supposed to be OK. The devs are a little strange, though.

I don't think this website has the storage capacity to support the admonishment I would pen with regards to my feelings towards them.

:D

One thing to be careful of though, is that I remember reading somewhere awhile back that some of these 'trancoding programs' were part of a scam and really did a terrible job of encoding. It was simply a cash grab sort of arrangement. Best to stick with what works.
