I am surprised when the unveil of the Note 7 happened they never mentioned the new cloud service especially since at first only the Note 7 users will get it. Pretty nice that they will give 15gb free vs Apples 5gb BUT there is really nothing online giving details about it or if it will launch when the Note 7 does or its features. Can only find 2 articles when I Google it.

Hoping it's like iCloud where we can buy a new phone and everything even down to app placement and internal settings will back up and come over when you restore/buy a new device.

Hoping it will be as good as what Apple has.

Actually when I got my last iPhone, the 6SPlus, I set up as new because I was getting so many weird problems running my previous iPhone as a restore from backups. Same with my iPad mini 4. Fresh starts on both machines had them running so much smoother. I do like ICloud to share photos across my devices, though, and for emergency backups once I've got a device set up.

I am also looking forward to trying Samsung cloud. But I'll be exploring mostly cross-platform options so that I am never locked into a single ecosystem again and at the mercy of any one company deciding for me what my needs are and what my upgrade schedule should be.

Completely agree with this statement. After years of being Locked into the Apple ecosystem I am exploring cross platform apps. Even if I end up using an iPhone I'll stick with those cross platform services because inevitably I'll want to try something g new again

With iOS, I only setup as new when coming from a complete iOS version to another. For example: I would set up as new coming from iOS9 to iOS10. But any incremental updates in between, I wouldn't find necessary.

Samsung Cloud won't mean being dependent on it. As your Google account still syncs your data. It seems like Samsung cloud will go beyond that and sync TouchWiz, the same way you can do on some 3rd party launchers like Nova. And that's exactly what I've been waiting for, since I rarely use 3rd party launchers.
