What should I look for in IOS functionality?
I am going to look for water damage and probably change the battery [86%]
Dont know what version IOS. It has optimized battery charging.

If the battery on the phone is currently 86%, that means you will need to have Apple replace it soon ($60+tax). Unless the selling price is $50, it's not worth the money, in my opinion.

You need to make sure the phone is not tied to an iCloud account. If it is when you receive it, it will be a paperweight.

Seller claims no icloud locks and unlocked carrier. iPhones go for a lot more money in Canada.

My son has the 2016 SE. Got it for him new for his birthday in 2019 I think. I believe it will run iOS 14, but he was jailbroken on iOS 13 so IDK.

Good phone. I did get him the 2020 SE a couple of months ago though. He's still using his old SE for whatever (he hasn't told me).

If I was going to get a iPhone SE I would get the iPhone SE 2nd gen. You have much better iOS upgrads

A newbie asking for help and then correcting my post instead of saying thank you for replying is rude, in my opinion. I am done with your thread.
I read it the way that he already bought it. The money was thrown. But who knows ;)
