Hi there:
I have an iphone 12 pro. I spend the winters in a southern state so I pick up a tier 2 phone package (tracfone) with sim for my time there. I installed it however it seems my phone won't recognize it (see photo attached). I only get the "SOS" indicator. I thought the sim may be bad so I bought another..same thing..then I tried a Straight Talk one..same thing..I put my original (out of country)plan sim in and it recognizes it. Phone is unlocked, bought from Costco online. I reset the network settings, no change. Am stumped...any ideas?? Thanks

are you buying phone/sim packages? If so I believe those sims are locked to those phones, vice versa

Sounds like maybe not?
I’m trying to understand if the OP is buying a phone/sim combo then simply taking the SIM and transferring the sim to their iPhone.

That won’t work as the sim and phone are locked together.
Prevents reselling the phone.

Sorry if this is belaboring the obvious - Did you go to the Tracfone site to activate the SIM?
Also - with an iPhone 12 Pro, you don't need a physical SIM at all. Tracfone activates eSIMs, which your iPhone 12 Pro supports.

Go here to activate, either way:
