I am going to be ordering a new late-2012 Mac Mini and want to upgrade to SSD before I even start using it. I do have a 2007 iMac with Mountain Lion that I use Time Machine to backup.

I was looking online on how to reinstall OSX on the new SSD of the mini and most of the tutuorials are talking about recovering from a time machine backup. I don't want to do this as my iMac is old and hosed from years of OS upgrades. I really just want a clean install of Mountain Lion on the Mini SSD, then I would like to use Time Machine to recover certain things like Mail, iTunes and iPhone libraries. Can anyone tell me a simple way to do this?

you will find this with a quick google search, essentially put the usb stick in with mountain lion and hold in option when you boot up. use Disk Utility to format, and then install

I think they also still allow for internet recovery just like with Lion don't they?
