Need Photoshop Mentor for B&W / Fashion Fotography / Picasso

Hi,

Can you help me ???

A while ago, about ten years ago (or more), I was to a Picasso exhibition. The exhibition told the story of the early life of the Spanish painter through his paintings.

It caught my attention to know that Picasso would spend long time drawing in the Museo del Prado in Madrid where he would "copy" and imitate the style and paintings of the old masters like Francisco de Goya. By copying and imitating, Picasso was not only able to become a very experienced painter, but also one who had command of previous painting styles. Moreover, as time went on, Picasso was able to develop his own technic, (result greatly due to the use or practice of styles other than his own !!!)

In the same way I would like to do the same. There are great fashion photographers out there. It is a small number of them who I admire and from who I would like to copy their style. This will lead me to practice a lot and to have more domain of the particular style.

However, as I am shooting digital, Photoshop is too new to me. I would deeply appreciate your help. How?? Well, this is how: as I work on the pictures I may need to e-mail you asking you for advice. My questions will have to do mainly with tone and contrast in B&W when using Photoshop. I'll be trying to copy the style of these photographers, but also at the same time learning from them.

So, If you would like to help me, please only write down your name and let me know how should I contact you.

Thank you very much, all the best,

Ignacio.

I just want to know how you get perfectly white fore/backgrounds in the studio shots. Mine always show the texture of the plaster/paper/etc.

macgfxdesigner, I truly wish I had an ounce of your talent. Excellent, excellent shots.

The concert ones came out looking... I don't know, just perfect.

Light Light make that background exp white hot as possible and controlling your aperture if you open the to high so close to an object the DOF lessens. and the texture or etc of the background shows through,, when I was shooting some bursting water balloons at 1st I had the balloon setup close to the black background and had to open the aperture around f/16 but the cloth texture was showing, that made the shoot very unattractive, so what I did was moved the balloon setup about 6 feet from the background and reset the tripod and with the balloon setup farther away the background become a smooth black one.

Hope that helps!
