Ok so I got bored and seeing as how I needed to replace my dead right fan, I decided to take apart my MBP with the help of iFixit's guide (which is awesome!) and apply some ArticSilver 5 in the process.
The operation took 3 hours on my first try, and the fans installed fine and now I run at about 126 degrees F or 54 degrees C. (I had to take it apart 2 more times due to iFixit mailing me a faulty fan with bad bearings - these thook 30 min to take apart, real easy once you get the hang of it).
The problem is that my fans now run constantly at it's maximum speed of 6000 rpm and it gets really noisy. My temp still read the same (~52-56C) but my fans keep reading 6000 RPM. I'm wondering what I could've done wrong to cause this. I know that there are two other thermal sensors on the left and right side, underneath the fans, and I'm wondering if I could've somehow damaged those connections thereby causing the computer to run the fans mercilessly even though my CPU is fine.
Also wondering if there's a program like smcFanControl that not only sets the minimum speed but the maximum also.
