Hello, we are new to the Apple community and the iMAC computers, we have just bought a iMAC 20" 2.66 with 4 gigs of ram and a 24" iMAC 2.8 with 4 gigs of ram and the 500 gig hard drive.

We have a lot learn as we are coming over from Windows. I have built the last few computers we have had, but I am tired of the never ending updates and crashing of windows.

So far I like the iMAC and the MAC operating system, I still have to learn how to find files and folders and such but in time it will come.

I am sure I will be asking some questions as I go so get ready.
 :apple:

Congrats on the switch! For future references, though, it's "Mac" not "MAC" :D

Remember, though, use the search function before posting your threads. Chances are your question is not new, and you could find answers to all your questions already posted.

Congrats on new purchase! You'll love it. The forums are always good places to ask questions, and most people are always willing to help!

I have been reading a lot of threads and the different guides ect. this place has a lot of great information. I look forward to learning as much as I can about the Mac system.

Congrats!!!!

I must say, you got two excellent systems. I myself am using the 24" Intel iMac as well (just purchased in January) and I absolutely love it.

I am in awe of that real estate (i.e. screen) when working on my graphic design projects.

Hang in there. You'll soon find that the Mac OS is MUCH more user friendly than Windows, and much more innovative. Trust me.

I highly recommend the book "The Missing Manual", it made my switch extremely easy. Plus you pick up loads of tips you'd never learn otherwise.

Welcome to the forums. :) Congrats on your purchases, those are two really nice machines!

I second the recommendation of The Missing Manual; it's helped some of my friends immensely.

I got a copy of the book at a Books a Million book store, the local Apple store had as well.

Both are used at home, I will use the 24" iMAC for our photo's the 20" I am using boot camp as I need windows for my check book program, I print my own checks and I use Omni Form which is not available for the Apple computers.

So far both me and my wife love the Apple system. Lots of learning but great not having anything crash.

Thanks for advising on that book, I have only read a little bit of it so far, but I enjoy reading the threads in here.

Again thanks for the assistance.

Another wonderful thing about Macs is you rarely, if ever, have to worry about a virus. Most of the time, viruses are created for PC's, not Macs. It's just wonderful.
