Greetings!

I have three MAC's my latest one is Mavericks 10.9.1. I've never used iCloud before so I thought I'd give it a try since it seems like a good safety feature. Anyway, is iCloud supposed to be left on (don't sign-out?) I purchased 15gb of storage will it back-up all the items I have checked, i.e., Calendar, Contacts, Keychain, Back to my Mac, Find my Mac, etc., or am I just whistling in the dark?

Cheers!

On your computer you leave it signed in else you defy the purpose of the service.

For more information please read the iCloud-page. It discribes 90% of the functionality.

Don't forget to press the 'features' tab at the top.

If you're merely syncing Calendar, Contacts, Keychain, Back to my Mac, Find my Mac, etc., you don't need extra storage space. 5GB is plenty. Extra space is only needed if you store documents, e.g., a novel you just wrote in pages. I have 3 Macs, an iPhone and iPad all synced. It's great to add a contact or appointment on the road and have it automatically sync to all your devices. And, yep, stay signed in or nuttin' happens...
