Hi there

I've just got my first mac (iMac on OS X Lion) and have a couple of questions..

1. how do i stop it from making that noise on boot [Resolved]
http://download.cnet.com/Psst/3000-2344_4-54891.html?tag=vtredir

2. when i open 'finder' it automatically goes to "All My Files" this includes all recognized 'files' from my documents, photos etc. - now - i installed microsoft messenger for mac. so in my Documents folder was the Microsoft Data folder (which i have hidden using GoodbyeHello to keep it looking tidy). BUT. All my Files still looks and indexes my chat logs and displays them (a list of HTML files) in All My Files. how do i either stop it from indexing a specific directory and sub-folders or how do i stop All My Files from displaying. I removed it from 'Favorites' thinking it would remove it. period. however it has not...(although its not on the list anymore)[Resolved]
Enter Finder preferences (click the desktop and press CMD+, comma

3. if i have an application open such as firefox and have 2 windows open (let's say this website and the downloads window) in Windows ALT+TAB would move you through WINDOWS but on mac it seems to swap between APPs - is there a keyboard shortcut to cycle through all open windows or failing that all windows of the currently focused app.[Resolved]
CMD+`

thanks for anyones help in advanced!

Prior to shutdown mute the speaker volume.

In Finder -> Preferences (cmd + ,) you can decide what is the default behavior when Finder is opened. You can set it up to open up your user folder instead of All My Files. Apart from that you can right click on the finder and select view options. Here you can view the folders and files organised by types, names...

Hope I was of any help

Thanks CTW - I've downloaded an app that mutes and unmutes on log out/log in. I've also tweaked Finder prefs, thanks.

Also I figured out to scroll through windows is CMD+` (accent/tick left of Z)
