Hello,

I purchased a 14" IBook G4 a couple of months before they were upgraded and I love it very much, even though the new IBook comes with a little more. But, as I'm still new to Macs, I have a few questions about my IBook.
1. can you upgrade the hard drive if, down the road, you need more space?
-and-
2. can you get the SMS installed on your computer if it didn't come with one?

thank you for your help.

1) Yes and it's not as hard as you'd think.
2) Is SMS built into the hard drive or the MoBoard? hmm..not sure.

Thanks for replying! I'm glad to hear that I can indeed upgrade the HD...
As to the SMS, I have no clue...guess I'll have to ask someone at the apple store...
But I appreciate your help
thanks!

SMS is an integrated feature of the main logic board...

I'm absolutely sure the newest iBooks already have the sudden motion sensor thing.

The sudden motion sensor on the 15" PB is on the motherboard, not in the HD, accd' to google, so it may also be in the Mobo in the iBook. :)

Enjoy your iBook (and eventually larger HD! :D)

My house!
Yes, the new iBooks have the SMS sensor in them. Its attached to the logicboard as a feature of the iBook so it doesn't depend on a special notebook hard drive.

Yes, I know that the NEWEST Ibooks have SMS, however, I purchased my Ibook a month before the NEW Ibooks came out, so my Ibook does not have the SMS....trust me, I was pretty peeved for a while.
*grin* However, after taking up the case with apple, they refunded me a portion of the purchase price, so no more complaints.
BUT, I still want SMS...
Is it not possible to have it installed? *confused* CAN it be installed?
