Hey everyone i am very new to the MAC world so new I don't even have one. My girlfriend has a Macbook Pro and it is so amzing it is crazy fast! I want to buy a iMac for us I was thinking about the 27-inch iMac, i7, 8GB Ram, 2Tb drive.

I work on PCs ALL day long but I really want to purches a mac and get to learn them even more. On PCs I want the best and latest and greatest. I don't do anything real big I do a lot of videos and editing, Big on photoshop and I do day to day things YouTube A lot, email, and really that is about it.

The iMac is very pricey but I am willing to do it my question is should I go that big? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Well, the 27" screen is absolutely amazing and the i7 is lightning fast.

If you have the $, go for it. Don't buy the RAM from Apple though, it's only 100$ from NewEgg and installing is super easy

If you can afford it, buy it. That's what I plan on buying myself. The 27" i7 8G 2T with Applecare and some pre-loaded Apple software. It's gonna cost me around $3K with tax. I've been mulling this purchase since the new iMacs came out. Right now, I'm not sure if I should just buy now or wait until the next revision. The current specs are fine for me, but I'm incredibly worried about the screen issues. At this point, I've little hope that the next revison (sometime late summer, maybe?) will implement a better screen, so it really doesn't make much sense to continue to wait.

Anyway, there's always the return policy if you find any defects. Also, it's quite imperative to purchase Applecare. I can't emphasize this enough. It's part of the Apple experience.

it is not all about speed

To answer your question:
Unless you do it for a living, I would not spend this money (considering your comment “very pricey”) for personal use.
For your photoshop, email and everyday stuff you are more than fine off with a lower model.
Don’t know about your video editing, but as said, if you are doing it as a privateer, I think you don’t have to go that ‘big”.

I am not even sure if you should buy the mac for speed purpose only.

Here some other encouragement:
If you are willing!!!! to let go of some old habits, you might be pleasantly surprised about ease of things. Example: I had to get used to the concept of not worrying about if an application is already started or not, in actual fact who cares, if I want to use it, it must open, simple as that (IMO they should do away with the little marker below the app icon in the dock).

hope this helps

Too big? no such thing! Switching over is only as difficult as you make it. to this day my husband still regrets saying those fateful words " I know they're not uber computers like your windows machine but just try it, I think you'll like it." man oh man has he lived to regret that, or at least his wallet has ;)

Go for it you'll love it!
