new to Macs. In Windows I would make an Acronis daily image backup, that I could restore in case of Main SSD corruption. I purchased CCC, but confused on how I do the same thing. It seems that image backups on Macs (I have and M1 macbook air, running Big Sur) is quite different. Any help?

CCC is fantastic software and I can't recommend it enough, I use it in conjunction with Time Machine backups.
You need to get on the CCC site and read up on how CCC works with M1 Macs. It's quite different than with an Intel Mac. A backup of an M1 Mac will not be bootable as are the backups of an Intel Mac or an Acronis image of a Windows machine.
You might want to start using Time Machine for backing up your M1 MBA. You can of course use CCC but the backup will not be bootable.

sorry to be so naive, mostly an Intel/Windows user. I do not care about bootable external, I only want to reinstate my machine to its current state in case of corruption. In the windows world you cannot install app by just copying. In Mac do you install the OS then just reinstall everything (including apps) from a CCC backup?
Yes. You can also do that from a Time Machine backup.
I'd also add that in the past decade of using Macs I've never had an SSD just get "corrupted" somehow to the point where I had to wipe it and reinstall everything.
