Hi, didn't know exactly where to post this msg, so this section will do (unless it gets moved by a mod hehe)
I'm a windows user *gasp*... or at least, have been for a long time.
My first computer was an Apple IIc! my 2nd an Apple Mac 512, then Mac Plus, and then not long after, an XT PC, and the rest is history.
Only now am I looking at trying Mac again. esp considering MAC OS X is sorta UNIX based (which i tinker with).. impressive.
I've always been a big fan of Apple's hardware, so well built. I'm also an iPod user.
Yesterday my wife and I went to our local Apple shop and ordered two new MacBook Pro's.. (after fiddling with some other mac's in the shop and mac OS X, for an hour or so)..
A pretty scarey and daring move on our part, I'm sure we wont be dissapointed!
I'm a Systems Analyst by trade, and have also worked as a Technician, Security specialist and network engineer.. I also run my own small home/hobby IT Consultancy company where I mainly work with Linux. I'm hoping my new MacBook Pro will go perfectly with what I do..
I have so many questions! but I spose really I should wait until my new MacBook's arrive.
The wife mainly works with MS Office, and does a lot of data crunching and processing.. after playing with office:mac 2004, she was impressed!
We travel a lot and would like to vid-chat with ea other when apart.. I'm hoping the macbook will be ideal for this.. among other things.
no doubt you will hear more from me when I actually have the new machines, as I config and setup my new machine to suit my requirements and of course when I break something by pressing the wrong button or typing the wrong command.
I guess you could say it's a special moment for me, for both of us, we are very excited..
more to come, no doubt
James
