New to Photoshop

All over the web. Google is your friend. There's also the help files for Photoshop that is handy.

There's also "Classroom in a Book: Photoshop CS3" which is 50$, maybe cheaper but is useful when you begin. It's tutorial that show pretty much everything that is done with Photoshop in the world of Design, graphic and photography.

By the way, strictly as a "Design and Graphics" Apps, Illustrator and InDesign are by far way better then Photoshop.

i've looked around on google and found some pretty helpful stuff. i just wondered if there was an actual tutorial out there.

The classroom in a book sounds good. i have CS4 tho. should the CS3 book still work with it?

unfortunately i have to learn Photoshop for a class i will be taking over the summer. my Fiance is dragging me along.

Never used CS4, but I do know it have some gui chances from CS3. It will work with CS3, but be aware that some things might not be at the same place and that for some things you'll have to search for them. They are great books by the way (There are versions for all the other Adobe apps I believe). We used them in class and some student who don't know how to use Photoshop are perfectly able to modify pictures and do minimal work only after a couple lessons.

ha funny you should mention these books my fiance just had to go out and buy one for a another class that she is taking. so i will be sure to look through it.
 
psdtuts is great, or you can just google for "photoshop beginner tutorials" or something.
 
Paying for a month over at Lynda.com is totally worth it. I learned so much about Photoshop so quickly. I felt like a pro in no time. :)
 
Just learn the basics of most of the tools and filters, then just mess around :)

Thats what i did when i got Ps back when photoshop 7 was the best, Been using it ever since, I'm using Cs4 atm, its...wow...awesome :)
 
hmm ive found for me (maybe not other people) to learn photoshop i just messed around with the tools and learned what they did. then i just did tutorials after tutorials. this method worked for me but some people need more specific instructions to learn.
