Hello Everybody,

So I am new to this whole computer gaming scene. Ive been a hard core xbox player since the beginning, but have gotten to busy and broke during college to buy games and or invest the time into playing them. However, im not quite ready to give up on gaming. I have a couple roommates who introduced me to Steam and I must say I am extremely impressed. So upon downloading Steam the first thing i noticed was an add for Counterstrike: Global Offensive. I owe the better half of my high school career to xbox's original version, so I bought it. The only problem is that I absolutely hate playing video games with the key board and mouse. Im looking for a controller that can hook up wirelessly to my macbook pro or maybe a solution to hook up an xbox or ps3 controller with some sort of software. Either option would work, but if you have any recommendations on controller please let me know. Also, if you have any suggestions about computer gaming period...like game recs, computer upgrades, or anything else you can think of, let me know! Hope to hear from yall soon.

Thanks,

Franky S.

Microsoft sells a wireless XBox controller for Windows. It might work with the Mac, but you can check up on that. As far as I know you cannot use a normal XBox Controller with a Windows/Mac machine.

As for games, wait until Thanksgiving/Christmas to buy any. They'll have crazy sales and you can stock up then.

Edit: Also Steam may be unveiling their own controller on Friday, so while I don't think you were on your way to the store, it might be worth waiting to see what that brings.

Windows has Xbox drivers built in, mac doesn't though. You can hook a wired one up and play, but wireless you need to buy the adapter they sell (or a Chinese knockoff).

thanks

thanks for all the help guys good suggestions. i think im definitely going to wait and see what kind of controller steam drops tomorrow. thanks again yall

I made a very simple video on how to use the Wired 360 controller.

It's easy as pie, and takes a few seconds if you have the controller with you.
