Hey all.
Last week i decided to broaden my horizons and play about with another platform of computer other than windows.
So i bought myself a Blue and White power mac G3, 400mhz, 768 mb RAM and a 12Gb hard drive for £50 on ebay (good deal?).

A number of questions.

1.How much RAM, and what type, can i put into it?

2.Can I put a PCI SATA controller in it?

3.What PCI cards can i put in it at all?

4.Does the motherboard have RAID on it?

5.Does it support any form of wireless?

Any help would be useful here, I hope this was the right place to come!

I'm not much help, but I think it takes PC100 SDRAM. Max? I don't know. I'd guess 1GB, but I really didn't get into the whole "Apple" thing until a couple years ago and don't know my history that well. Just figuring based on age.

You may also want to check the apple-history.com page.

Mac OS X offers software RAID.

I think I put 576MB RAM in my B&W. I stuck a 64MB Radeon 7000 (flashed) in there, but I was having heat issues.

It sure is. Welcome to MR cam50626! :) :) :)

Glad that you have decided to broaden your horizons and try Mac. There is a world of goodies awaiting you- it will make you wonder why you ever put up with windows in the first place. :)

One more thing, cant find any BIOS, is this right?

Mac's don't have BIOS, they use Open Firmware. Google for Open Firmware to find out all about it. I don't know much technical detail about it, but it's similar to BIOS except that its superior in many ways.
