new touch old accessories

I just got a new 3 gen. touch and It won't work with some old accessories. I have a monster FM transmitter/charger, it will play through my car speaks but it won't charge. I also have a JBL onstage 2 (i think that's what its called) and its the same thing. It plays the music through the speakers but won't charge.
Why won't it charge? now I have to go out and buy all new stuff

dam that stinks. Anyone have any recommendations for a speaker dock pref. with an alarm clock and for an FM transmitter/charger?

I've never used one but I believe Scosche makes a line of adapters that would let you still use the old chargers. Both an inline adapter for the cable and a dock socket for dock devices.
