Well, just got my new TV out of the UK (as over here in Holland we won't be able to get it for some weeks to come..).

Very, very, cool and sweeeeeet product! :)
What a gorgeous little black thingy!

Ripped out my old TV and using the 3 same plugs (HDMI, ethernet, power) connected the new TV.
No hassle, select language, sign-in for Home sharing, et voila! Working! :)

However.... :(
- You need to setup Home sharing..? Why not "Sync to iTunes"...
- Interface for browsing my iTunes "server" is "Front Row"-style (TV series are sorted by episodes instead of another "layer" of sorting in seasons.... i.e. select TV series, then select Season, then Episode, like on the old TV)

TBO, a bit disappointment, really. The interface of the old TV was perfect. So, so much better than Front Row. This new TV, cute as it is, is nice... very nice... but in comparison to the old TV... step back interface-wise.

The home sharing is because there's nothing to sync as there is no storage on the new one. I, too, hope they give us a better way to navigate our libraries or create the app store and someone else do it!

Yep... true that real-syncing of data.

But, I don't store any data on the old TV. I "sync" it using "Custom Sync", and by selecting nothing and consequently it streams my entire iTunes Library... IMHO the perfect solution.

It doesn't really matter.... Home sharing is fine.. just give me my TV interface ;)

On the first generation, you didn't 'have' to sync your content. You could stream as well without home sharing.

I agree with the library navigation (as well as the handling of Itunes metadata in general) needing an improvement.

I am setting up playlist in iTunes to handle my TV shows for now (as well as movie genre's). I can live with that until first update.

I have been using my new ATV for about a week now and we love it. The netflix integration is fantastic (wish iTunes offered a subscription).

We are going to get 1 more and scale back our cable service to just the very minimum needed to still get their internet service.

I mean sort by series, then season, then episode... like the old TV.

I have an old TV, can you tell me how you do this please? I am busy converting battlestar galactica, and what them sorted by season, then episode as you say. I'm on Mac btw

cheers

It's all in the tagging. You have to tag the season, episode and track numbers to get it to work nicely in the old TV. It works OK with the new one. I'm hoping they fix the sorting of the new one soon -- even if they don't subdivide seasons. And on the Remote app it's annoying that it shows a reverse order of episodes from what the new apple TV does. Grrr.
