New "Update" Partition

I'm running a Mac Mini (Late 2014) and recently upgraded from Mojave to Monterey creating a backup first on Carbon Copy Cloner. I've had issues with Monterey and decided to downgrade to Mojave using the CCC backup but Finder now shows another partition called "Update." What is it and can I remove it safely?
