Between iPhone, ipad and a nano, my iPod classic has been ignored for the past 6 months. Sure I could sell or gift it but I wanted to see if there were any novel ideas for uses? Something DIY or otherwise. Like a homemade boombox or something far more creative. Thoughts?

How do you not have any use for your iPod classic? It's the only iPod that can hold a reasonably sized library. I use mine in the car and as my home stereo.

yep what he said... not so much as home sterio, thats what my computer is for.. I use it every day in the car because its so much easier to control without looking at and holds all my music.

An external drive is about as far as I'd go with it, and if I remember correctly it's a painfully slow transfer rate. Selling it's probably your best bet. Be sure to let me know if you put it on ebay, I just sold my iphone which I was using for my music and now I need an ipod.

I use my Classic in my car and probably always will. I prefer the tactile buttons over the iPhone's touch interface so I can easily skip songs without taking my eyes off the road. Everywhere else I use my iPhone.

Not everyone has a library above 16GB ;)

Off course not. But in that case you should buy a 160GB classic anyway ;)

I still adore my iPod. It containse my cd-collection, my mp3-collection, a bunch of movies and series. And I still take it anywhere. (ok, I don't have an iPhone/iPad, and I don't take my laptop everywhere with me).

Sorry, I can't come up with new applications you can't do with your computer/iPhone/iPad/... Sell your car and use it to watch movies on the bus/train ;)

I agree with grozier; the classic is great for car audio.

Also, there are companies that make Wurlitzer-style jukeboxes with standard Apple dock connectors, so you can use the iPod as a music source rather than vinyl or CDs. This would be great for a family rec room.
