So I'm a new user and I've tried to see if I could find any solutions for the current problems I'm having.

As far as I know I have a first generation 1.6GHz/80GB MBA and I'm having some issues.

The first is the heating problem. I know this is a common problem in the first gens and I'm just wondering what kind of solutions there are. It runs hot a lot of the time, especially during flash video etc. Are there any hardware fixes that I could get done at a certified Apple tech shop?

The other problem is the space. I would love to get a SSD, I know they are coming out with 'bigger' and better models what are the size and specs I need to search to find a replacement SSD that will fit in my unit?

Thanks ahead of time and I apologize if this is the ten millionth thread on these topics. If I just missed the glaring answers just a link would be nice too.

As far as you know you have a Rev A? Check the video connector next to the USB port. If it is flat like the USB its a Rev A.

Buy coolbook. It makes a big difference during video playback on the Rev A Air.

I havnt been following the SSD upgrade threads here but there have been a few that should be easy to find. The Rev A Air requires a 1.8 inch 5.5mm high drive with a PATA ZIF connector.

Thanks! I guess it's a rev A as the USB and video look almost identical.

I'll try coolbook, I just wasn't sure as it said that it's not tested for MBA so I was a little wary about installing/buying it.

Thanks for the sizing info on the SSD, that helps a lot. Those are tough to find, it seems PATA is on it's way out :(

There was a big thread on here about coolbook as it relates to the Rev A. Search and I am sure you will find it. It has lots of advice for setting it up.
