ok so im still only about a month in with my new macbook, and its my 1st mac. I briefly installed the trial on intego's virusbarrier...i did use the unistall feature to get rid of it....so last night i was on the system profiler and looked at the start up items and saw one called integocommon, when i put it in the trash, my computer asked me for my password.....i guess my question is this wasnt a needed file, and it was (i hope) just some left over intego crap....please confirm....my thought is that this was part of the app that updated ical with days you should update integos virus definitions....i just want to verify that i didnt mess my computer up with deleting this file....thanks

If you were looking in /Library/Startupitems/, there's nothing in there in a default OS X install. Anything that is in there is part of a 3rd party app install and isn't needed by the OS.

If you were looking in Login Items under Accounts in System Preferences, well, that's got nothing to do with OS X startup items, that's all about items that start up when you login. They are tied to that user. Again, on a default install of OS X, there's nothing there, all those are added by applications or users.

ok thanks, its then safe to say that file has to do with intego and that piece of software alone and shouldnt have any ill effects on any other 3rd party app on the computer?
thanks
