Do the new video iPods have voice recording capabilities or was I somehow imagining I heard or read that somewhere today?

That would be cool, but I think you may have imagined it.

I dont know why they never did that...think about classroom implications of that!!! No more cheap voice recorders or tapes!

Dude throw out the minicassette recorders, Griffin has made an iTalk for 3 and 4th g iPods for a long time. I had two 4g 20gb iPods both with iTalks. Sold one last week for 210 bucks (it was still under warranty!). I have not looked back since getting the iTalk -- you can put your voice memos on iTunes and make CDs out of it. If I were still in college, I would have one
So just wondered if they had anything like it yet for video ipods.

XtremeMac have a voice recorder out for the Video. Griffin and Belkin have announced products but not released them.

XtremeMac MicroMemo

That looks nice, allowing you to attach your own mic. The main downside is that you can't record and charge at the same time, which can be an issue since recording uses a lot more power than playback.
