I am so disappointed. I received my AVP today in the UK after a long wait . Powered on, did an initial eye adjust, jaw dropped seeing the quality of the pass through. Then it was like somebody wrenched the power cord. It just switched off.

Now it tries to start-it up and I see the Apple logo on the outward facing screen. And then it reboots over and over. Sometimes the fans blast for a brief moment just as it decides to reboot.

I can't easily get to an Apple store so I think I have two choices
1 ) Buy another one and return this one but it means waiting another 2 weeks
2) Buy the developer strap which I can get as soon as Monday. I can successfully put the AVP in recovery mode, so I think I will be able to re-flash it

Any suggestions?

Did you try a forced restart?

Thanks for the help. I have tried that. Apple support said its a tough call whether it's hardware or software but since hardware failure out of the box has been extremely rare, they are leaning towards success with the strap.

That has to be beyond frustrating! Did Apple suggest anything else? I would have thought they would have express shipped a new unit to you.

Unfortunately not. I waited intentionally for the US support team to come onlind was routed directly to a senior team in Austin who can talk directly to dev. The guy I spoke to said it only offers a repair option not replace. But even aside from that, there seems to be no reserve stock..,it has to come from China. I'm just hoping so bad that the dev strap solves it on monday.

I would just return it and buy again when available. Wouldn't accept repair for device this expensive not working on day 1.
