looks a lot like something from star trek, but it's easy to read and surprisingly aestheticly pleasing. It does need a bit of work in the field of graphics though.

Yeah my buddy pointed out the star trek thing to me after I finished it, oddly enough I designed it from scratch and was never a fan of Star Trek.

Can you be a bit more specific with what graphics you feel need work?

well, mainly the orange on the thing that goes all over the page. instead of doing a flat colour, maybe do a subtle gradient (to me, it doesn't seem like the right shade of orange).

BTW: please do not use comic sans or arial at all. a lot of people on this forum will agree

I agree with tominated. Something about that orange thing just is not right. The color is really 'flat'. It does not necessarily need a gradient, but it does need something.

Orange

I agree and don't about the orange.

I agree in the sense that something isn't quite right, but I don't agree about a gradient at all.

It's just too much orange---it's your accent color, and right now it's all over the place. Where should one's eye be directed first? The orange attracts the eye immediately, but since it's used in the logo, contact information, graphics, and then as a background color I think it creates a conflict with the visual hierarcy.

Apart from the 'orange-ness' of the design, the first thing strikes me is that the first navigation item that I see / catches my eye is "Pay a Bill" .... maybe not the best first impression for a service company :)

Thanks for the feedback

I see what you are all saying about how nothing we want is really grabbing attention on the homepage. I don't think we are going to keep this homepage style for long because it doesn't really feel like it fits the rest of the website. I appreciate all the feedback and I certainly appreciate seeing how well the server handled getting around a hundred visitors from this posting.

Thanks to the feedback we got we have decided to adjust the Pay a Bill link right now.

I love it. I think it's fantastic. I'm colorblind, so listen to the other folks about color stuff, but I really dig the page. Agreed that "Pay a bill" is too prominent.

I really like the white icons at the top of the page, but I expected them to do something.

Does anyone have any input they can offer on our content pages?

I really appreciate the feedback, its always nice to have an unbiased point of view.

We are not using any content management system for the site it is all hand coded aside from the blog and forum softwares.

I'll post back here when we update the homepage, thanks everyone for the feedback.

as for the home page:
i don't think the orange needs gradients or any "depth", but i do think it just needs to be smaller. I like the color, there is just way too much of it. Maybe if that graphic was thinner.

content pages:
i wish your home page was this simple. these are easy to use, well layed out, and SIMPLE. I think the image used in the "computers" section is a little odd looking. Like something is't quite right about the monitors.

Hi, its a cool site. gets the job done.

One little thing i noticed is that the networking image on the main slideshow has a faint grey border whilst the others dont, im using an apple 23" display, i dont know how visible it is on other displays

i removed the border for you in case you cant see it-

before and after comparison (see the border?):

Thanks Yagran for fixing the picture but honestly I have viewed it now on around a dozen machines including my Mac Book Pro and I cannot see the problem to begin with. If you have a digital camera and some free time could you upload a picture of what it looks like on your LCD so I know what went wrong.

We are working on a new homepage for the site, maybe we can get some feedback as we build it so this time we don't make the same big mistakes.

Not bad. Very web 2.0. Are you using Joomla or Drupal for the site? Also, visually it seems to lack a little depth - maybe its the graphics (dunno ).

I disagree. It's not very web 2.0. The reflections are done in a poor and tacky way, imo.

There is something wrong with the orange, I agree. I think it's that specific orange, and it's used probably a little too much.

The icons at the top serve no purpose so I'd get rid of them. I thought they were mystery meat navigation at first.

Comic sans at the bottom of your first page? Ew.

It's ok. But it could use some refining of the details.

like i said, its a faint grey border let me zoom it in a little for you to show you. my attached picture is zoomed in on the right bottom corner of your original image, you will see a border of colour 0A0A0A. If you still cant see it in this picture try using a graphics program and scanning over the image with the colour selection tool and youll see it, trust me it is there im not making it up lol.

ps. i see that you have changed it on your site though so thats good.

Using Safari on the Mac tge drop down menus for Computers -Networking-Contact Us - Support drop down behind the panels below .IE7 and Opera on PC its OK.

Safari 3.0 beta here.

That for me at least is one of the nicest sites I've seen around. Perhaps take a little gloss off it and then the design alone would give me confidence to use your service.

Good work!

What prog did you do the design elements in? (Fireworks + Dreamweaver?)

Thanks

Thanks for the positive review, we might try to add some z-index tags to the elements on the homepage to correct the problem in Safari 2.

We did the site using an assortment of the Adobe Creative Suite 3 tools (Including Illustrator, Photoshop and Fireworks) and for scripting we used Coda on the Mac.

One last page for a review and then I promise I'll go away :p

I know the graphic isn't very pretty but its supposed to grab eyes, anyone have anything to say about it?

I think you've done a nice job. I've only seen the latest version but I like it. I don't see anything about bills so I guess you've removed that. I will say that I don't think it is a bad idea to have as a link, it is all in the presentation. For instance Pay A Bill is a command, but Bill Pay is a feature (and clearly not correct english, but that isn't the point). Without having seen it I feel like that is all I can say on the subject.

The promo page looks alright. The menu tabs don't match the main page which doesn't sit well with me. In fact that and the white background with orange border make me feel like I am on another website (a similar site, but a different one all the same). Visually I am not prepared for a site that is using black and greys to switch to whites and orange. Even just ditching the white and fixing the menu tabs might help, but a black background might create some new problems.

I think it is looking good, but could be better. I wish you luck in your business endeavor.
