I am sure this has been discussed long ago, but since I am new to ATV I wanted to post this anyway.

I recently purchased my first movie from iTunes (wanted to see the quality), purchased The Hunger Games in HD. When I sat down to watch the movie this morning I realized the movie is leaving large black bars on my wide screen TV. Now in the past I have been ripping my blue rays to mkv and then handbraking them into mp4 using the settings found on here to fit my TV perfectly.

The question is, is there an ATV setting to make it fit or is this just way it is and I need to deal with it??

what you are seeing is correct.
read up on the various aspect ratios that are using when shooting films.

Thanks, I guess from now on I will buy the Blu-Ray and rip it instead of of downloading from iTunes.

You will run into the same aspect ratios whether you rip or download. It just depends on the original source.
