Wherever they'll let me
Hello everyone. As this is my first time posting in a forum for the last five years or so, I hope you'll forgive my lack of proper etiquette. I'm the proud owner of a recently updated MBP and I came across some issues in my first week. One is that in looking at the system info, the display is listed as LCD...now I may be wrong, but the 15" that I got was updated to LED, right? Is there some way to verify this, or am I forever to be in limbo wondering if I'm gonna get that 15 minute battery boost and the warm fuzzy feeling confirming that I'm being environmentally friendly.

Next, as a new convert to iTunes as well, I'm noticing that some of my albums are being split up into many. This has so far happened with my Halo2 album and I was wondering if there was a quick fix to helping that sort itself out.

Sorry for the mixed post content. Any of you old hats are more than welcome to help steer me in the right direction. Thanks!

The display is an LCD display. The backlighting is LED backlighting (that's what was changed).

What do you mean by "some of my albums are being split up into many"?

It is an LCD, the LED part refers to the backlight. The older model laptops utilized a CCFL for a backlight, the new ones use an LED backlight. The actual display is still an LCD. LED backlighting uses less energy and is more even and will not fade in intensity over time.

Hmmm, can't directly help you with this one, anyone out there with some pointers on this?

Perfectly all right, hope the info about the LED helps out.

Your compilations are probably being broken down to new albums for each artist. At the preferences menu, with the general tab selected, put a checkmark by Group compilations when browsing.

For the albums...I can help you :)

Highlight all of the songs from the album that is being split (I'm not sure how it is on a mac...I'm a PC user soon-to-be-converted, but it is shift or ctrl click on PC) and right click on one of the songs and select "Get info" when they are all highlighted. This will bring up an information pane for the album. Retype the artist and album name and click OK...it may ask if you are sure you want to change the information for several albums, click OK. This should set everything!

This is a common problem for music that has been obtained by...ahem...unmentionable means. ;)

ditto. do this often.

Also, if you name it the same way Apple does, then you can make sure you get the album artwork on the itunes server.

Otherwise you will have to import the album artwork manually. Normally, it's pretty easy to find with a quick google search.

Your new MBP has a Liquid Crystal Display which is backlit with a Light Emitting Diode, rather than the older screens which are backlit with a Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp.

And for compilation albums which are obtained legally. Such an example would be Linkin Park's Reanimation album. That got split all over the place with me.
