Hi everyone ,sorry for the daft question but im totally lost use a iMac with external hard drive for music files and iPhone 10 previously just put music from my hard drive on my phone never any problem decided to try apple music , since then ive lost the ability to sync music from my HD onto phone .....so i cancelled apple music ...but when i plug in phone and go to sync settings it tells me i must turn off cloud music library and my files aren't available .......im lost please someone help LOL

I'm not sure what you were trying to sync. If you have Apple music, then you have it everywhere; your computer and on your phone. So there is nothing to sync. Its on all devices. If you downloaded songs while subscribing to Apple Music and then cancel your subscription, then you lose access to those songs. You don't own them when you download them. They go away if you stop your subscription.

hi sorry what i mean after subscribing too apple music i couldn't sync any music from my HD,music thats burned from my cd collection onto my external hard drive .....hope that makes sense

Hmmm, don't know why you couldn't sync that music but if you would subscribe to iTunes Match for 1 year ($25), it will take all the music on your HD and put it into your cloud library so it would be available just like any other music. No syncing required.

Once you have Apple Music turned on, you can't copy music files directly from your HD to your iPhone. Instead, you have to copy those files from your HD to your iTunes library, which will then sync them to your Apple Music account.

Apple Music includes iTunes Match, so there's no reason to pay for a separate subscription to it.
