So I just had to give my 16GB 3g back to apple because of a broken silence button. That phone had the 02.30.03 firmware when i checked which i believe cannot be unlocked?

I have a 2g unlocked a long time ago and im looking to unlock and jailbreak the new 3g. I do not have a sim card other then my Tmo one and a Go Phone sim i bought just in case.

When the phone turns on it obviously wants to connect to itunes and when it does i go no where because of no sim.....anyone have a recommendation as to where i start first or how i can even check if the new phone has the firmware i need?

Sorry if this has been asked before, i searched and could not find exact answer. Thanks for any help in advance....

:D

Well, I guess you need to put a working SIM card in so you can get the phone going and check the internals. Then if it's not on 2.30 you'll be able to jailbreak and unlock it.

What happened to the SIM you were using with the broken phone?

Try to restore to stock 2.2. If it allows you to restore to 2.2 without giving you an error then you can use yellowsn0w. Once you figure that part out the hard part will be getting the phone activated prior to installing. I suggest a custom PWNED FW with YellowSn0w already installed in the bundle.
