Hello,
I am a newbie to apple laptops, just purchased a Macbook and love it, being a PC user I have a couple of questions.

1- When I insert a disc of pictures, it does not open up automatically, is there a setting that I need to change?

2- I installed MS office on my laptop, when we switch users to my wifes, it does not show the office program, do I have to reinstall it on her user program? I thought when you install a program all users can use it.

Thanks for any help.:confused:

1-System Preferences->CDs & DVDs-> When you insert a picture CD

2-Can she see it in her applications folder? It may just not add to the dock of all users

Thank you for your reply, I will change the setting when I get home, as for the 2nd question , it is not in her application folder. There must be a way to put new applications on different users, that would be crazy that you have to reinstall a program on all users.

Office comes with an installer if I remember correctly, so it should have put all the apps in the /Applications/ which is accessible by all users.

If you can see it from your account you should check to see where the app is located.

Edit: Hmm, it's been a while since I installed office but there might have been an option during the install that said install for this user only vs install for all users.

Thanks for all your help:)

It should be in the Applications folder, all applications are. There is no option to only install for certain users, so its gotta be there. If you Ctrl-Click on the dock icon and click "Show In Finder" you will find where the application is stored.

Can you just go to the Users pane, then select the Admin of the computer, and go into that Applications folder and look for Office?

I would imagine that can be done.

I will try all your suggestions when I go home tonight, I hope it works. Thanks
