I am new to Mac having been (and still am) a PC user but I wanted the MBA for portability. I love this machine. Although I have never been a fan of trackpads I have come to fully appreciate the versatility of the MBA trackpad. However, there are times I would much prefer a mouse. So I bought the Logitech V470 since I wanted a BT mouse and did not want a dongle hanging out from my sleek machine. It paired flawlessly and has programmable buttons. Now, my eyes are a little older than many here and at times I have a hard time reading small text. I know about keyboard shortcuts for zooming and even installed the font button on my menu bar. But I cant leave text enlargement on all the time since it distorts some web wages. The V470 has a left/right tilt wheel so I programmed left tilt to decrease font size and the right tilt to increase size. I also programmed the wheel push for quick view. Now when Im scrolling and the text is too small, a simple right tilt will zoom and when Im done a left tilt returns text to normal size so that the next web page is in proper perspective. This is very convenient and efficient since my hand never has to leave the mouse. I had considered the Apple MM but read too many bad reviews on the trackball getting dirty and clogged. Anyone have any thoughts?

I've owned both the Logitech V470 and the Apple Wireless Bluetooth mouse. I liked the Apple one better than the Logitech, but both did not have the precision or smoothness of movement I'm accustomed to coming from a wired gaming mouse background. I returned them both and got a Logitech VX Nano instead (leagues better in all ways) but it has a dongle which you want to avoid.
Do you know you can use a two finger pinch gesture on your trackpad to increase and decrease the font size? Spreading two fingers apart will make the fonts bigger and moving them closer together will do the opposite.

I do. However, I recently had hurt my wrist and needed to cut down on the amount of finger/wrist motion I was using. BTW, do you have any trouble removing the mini receiver for the Nano. I had read some posts that it was very difficult because of it's small size and recessed placement in the MBA port.
Woops forgot to mention I have a MB not an MBA. I would not recommend the VX Nano on the MBA since it takes up that precious usb port. I have no experience with how it fits or how hard it is to remove from an MBA usb port.
The thing I hated about the V470 that you have though is that it tries to disconnect from the bluetooth connection after about 20 minutes if I remember correctly. I found no way to change or configure this. What would happen is you put your machine to sleep and then 20 minutes later, the V470 would wake your machine up when it disconnected from the bluetooth. Then your machine would waste batteries sitting there until it went back to sleep again. Was annoying.
The Apple mouse did not have this problem.

Which zoom are you referring to?
There are 2 types of zooms, one to increase/decrease font size, the other is to hold the CONTROL key and use the mouse scroller to zoom into the screen. This second zoom has no effect on the format of the webpage.
I would recommend a change of resolution on your screen. I'm using MS's BT Notebook Mouse 5000 and you can go to your System Preferences/Mouse and enlarge the Pointer as well...
