Hi Guys,

This is my first purchase. I wanted to know. If they work with any video cards. Mac pro. I was looking at the 8 cores. Will i be better off building a pc or just get a mac pro tower. I do render videos. Most of the time i will render 3 or 4 videos at the same time. I leave my pc rendering overnight. Also i play games. I will be purchasing a 27 inch samsung lcd monitor also. But i am just lost or confuse of what should i get. I did use mac before G4 but then it died on me a powerbook used maybe 2 or 4 hand laptop. Anyways the think is i will install windows on it with bootcamp to play the games i have and also will be getting software for mac for video editing. any recommendation. Will i be better off staying on windows pc platform or just go for the mac. Advice please

Get the pro

My wife and I kept switching between pc and Mac we finally just got a mac pro and wow all I can say is that it is a power house. My wife uses final cut pro and she loves the program and computer. Also apple is releasing a new video editing program this summer just google upcoming final cut pro. Personally go with a Mac pro this is my set-up: Mac pro 8 core, ssd bay one, 1 tb for windows on boot camp, a 2tb in bay 3 for all my data and bay 4 is a raid to bay 3 it just makes a copy. And get the new final cut pro.

Will have to save money to buy final cut pro.also from an online seller they are selling a MAC pro 8 core 2.4ghz 6gb rams 4tb of hdd. Welcome back to the Apple side but you need to up your expectations. Getting a new PC gets you a complicated mess of software. Getting a Mac gets a clean install without the PC garbage to worry about. The system install DVDs (disk 1 and disk 2) have OS X and iLife. There are no driver disks or any separate utilities. It's all there in a simple format. Only other disks would be if you ordered iWork, etc.

Also i have the ATI Radeon 5770 1GB for the mac which i did not use i endup upgrading to the 5870. How much can i get on the 5770 since it is still new have not used it.

I would have to disagree with fellow posters about windows. If you were OS dependent and needed a Mac pro, then would have suggested one. But since your using a windows program, you could of built a more powerful system at about half the cost. I had 2 Mac pro's, a 2006 and a 2008. Great systems, no doubt. The newer ones cost to much. If money isn't a issue, then by all means, get a Mac pro. Win7 is a heck of allot better than the fanboys here are willing to admit. BUT, if apple really updates FCP as they said, with all those features listed and the price, you will want a Mac pro. Both OS's are great. Just have to know how to properly configure each one for maximum performance with the least amount of headache.

I am still a windows pc also. For the mac pro was for the ease of having two system in one. Mac osx will be running and also will use bootcamp to run windows 7 for my games. I don't play games a lot but for the price i got my mac and with the software that it comes with it i feel like i got a good deal. I like my windows pc and mac. I did have plans on upgrading because my quadcore laptop is messing up on me but it is old i have a Q6600. i think i have Clevo laptop. with three hard drive and with a 8700M GT 512MB.

anyways i don't regret spending my money on this mac since i don't upgrade like every 4 or 5 years. I will upgrade my pc/mac until in 7 or 10 years from now. Depends on my need also as time progress. I do video rendering a lot on my laptop.

The only no has answer my question about the video card 5770 on how much can i sell it for.

To answer this question, if you put the card on ebay, you can likely expect anywhere between 150-200 for the mac 5770.

Enjoy your new computer, that thing is a beast!!
