Newbie to Mac

Finally getting rid of the PC - arriving from apple today/tomorrow - I know I'm going to have some questions, but will use tutorials and the like first. One question I have off the bat, this may sound dumb, but does Mac use antivirus software/if it does which is the best one. Thank you in advance, Ken

AV software in not really needed. OS X does a good job.

Apple have recently "recommended" that you use antivirus software but in my and many other people's opinion its not needed at all.

Although there are a handful of viruses out there for OS X, there not really that common.

Ken,

You can get anti-virus software, but it's pointless, and will slow your system down anyway. Most go without.
