Hey all, I have a couple questions as I am trying to determine if the iPad will be a wise investment for me.

I am quite familiar with what the iPad can do and the OS as I am a iPhone 2g owner, BUT what I'm thinking will sell me on it is if there will be a capable VNC app for connection to my mac mini and for running some software on it remotely.

I have read some of the other threads about VNC apps, and realize that it is still very early in the game, but based on the hardware is it theoretically possible to connect remotely and run applications like Illustrator CS3 from the iPad at nearly the same performance as if you right at the desktop? I have read of issues related to frame rate and such, but for non-video related software, will VNC provide a good experience for things like photoshop, word, powerpoint, iphoto, iweb, etc?

I have no experience in remote connection other than remote desktop in XP, which is why I ask such a generic question. Others have mentioned successfully running software on host computers using netbooks, so is it conceivable that with a fast network connection the iPad will be able to run software remotely?

My questions are based on the notion that connecting remotely/using VNC basically turns the connecting computer into a portal to view and run the input devices remotely. Correct me if I am way off base here.
