Newbie with a few Q's

Hello everyone, I am new to Apple and I love it . I had a few questions to get answered if at all possible!!

1st one is I have a brand new macbook and it seems like it heats up alot under the laptop in the corner where you hook up the power cord...are these known to heat up alot? Is it the battery or the harddrive? I downloaded a widget to watch the heat of my smartdrive sometimes it gets up to high 90's sometimes not!! I dont ever hear a fan running is it really quiet? Any help would be appreciated.

2nd question is my wife dropped my macbook it was in the case and she dropped it about a foot and a half to two foot to a carpeted floor...are macbooks touch...should I be worried about any internal damage?

I don't have a MacBook so I can't answer the first question.

As to the second one if it's still working it'll be fine. MacBooks are designed to take a few more knocks than the Pros (as the non-Pro ones are more likely to end up being used by school kids etc).

If you're talking heating up in the "90°s" F, that's in the norm. My fan hardly ever kicks in until ~140° F usually when running multiple apps and rendering something.

The dropped Book might be a friendly reminder to make sure you have AppleCare. Some issues aren't covered in all cases, but by in large it's a good investment and has payed for itself with several of our Books.

Yea I do have the 3 yr (I think its the 3 yr) Applecare plan...seems to be running just fine right now but I didnt know how sturdy these macbooks are and I thought I would ask! Thank you

My MacBook gets pretty toasty in that corner too. I think that's where the processor sits. It's nothing to worry about.

my MBP gets warm in the corner with the power adapter, too. i don't know if it gets as hot as you're saying yours does, but it is definitely warmer than other parts of the machine. i wouldn't worry about it. if it bothers you, maybe get an iCurve or something to increase air movement under the machine.
