I'm a long time PC user that finally made the plunge to Mac. I received my 15.4" MBP 2.4 today and am adapting to the new interface. The computer does not have the yellow screen (LG screen) or build issues.

My main concern is the temperature of the machine. I charged it up and the machine is now running hot. IStatPro says my machine is running

CPU = 117F / 160F (highest so far)
GPU Diode = 131F
GPU heatsink = 115F

Are these temperature normal or should I be concerned? Also, what are the normal operating temperatures for this machine?

Looking forward to being part of this group!

Thanks in advance for your help.

Those temperatures are normal, if you get up to 200F that's when you start to worry. And enjoy your Mac :)

Thanks! I'm really enjoying it right now. I keep finding interesting things about it. Now do I have to worry about viruses and spyware on a Mac? If so, what are some recommended software I can download, preferably freeware.

Thanks again!

Nope, you don't have to worry about viruses at all :)

They do exist, but I wouldn't worry about them. It'd take a lot to catch something on your machine.

Oh, and congrats on diving into the mac pool. I made the plunge a couple months ago and I'm loving it! There are a ton of apps for these things. I'm still learning more everyday. Enjoy!
