newer games on a 2010 27" imac

I just bought a 27" imac i5 w/ the 5850m and was wondering if i should get rid of my custom built pc for gaming?

i dont game too much, but when i do i like it to be a good experience and not be detrimental to my machine.

i currently play sc2 via bootcamp and want to install bfbc2 and DaO but am curious about how the gameplay will be

i'm also looking to play Diablo 3, Dragon Age 2, and BFBC Vietnam, and Fallout New Vegas but was wondering if my imac will be able to handle them while looking good.


has anyone played bfbc2, dragon age origins, or new vegas on a 2010 imac? if so, under what settings and how was ur FPS?

will playing these games on my mac under bootcamp cause my machine to get really hot and possibly cause an issue?

should i keep my PC for gaming only and use my mac for everything else?

Whichever you decide make sure you play them all under Windows. OS X Graphics drivers are terrible, but there have been claims that they improve a lot in the 10.6.5 update.

If your PC has fairly new hardware you should just keep it as your main gaming rig and use the iMac for everything else. If it's a bit older, go ahead and use bootcamp, your iMac shouldn't have any problems but it will always run hot under Windows.
 
My friend games w/ his non-bootcamp iMac (27" bought recently) and it is surprisingly bad. :confused: Definitely get Windows, or buy a gaming rig.
 
i know the gameplay will be better on my pc, however, im only a casual gamer and have gotten a decent offer on my PC. I'm not sure wether to take the offer and do everything exclusively on my Mac or keep the PC even though it'll rarely be used... only a few hours a week when i game.

however, that may change once diablo 3 comes out (if its even within a year) then ill be playing games a bit more; but shouldnt my imac handle that just fine?

Ok that changes a lot of things, with that information in mind your iMac will do just fine.
 
does any1 have any experience playing BFBC2, DaO or New Vegas on a 2010 iMac w/ the 5850 mobility gpu?

Im curious to see if these games are playable at high settings on the native resolution...

because i dont play games all day long, when i do play, i'd like it to be a good experience and not have to play w/ low quality, lag, or worry about my imac getting too how while gaming
