As most of you know I had 4 new Bad Apples, I would like to buy another, and would like to know how the build ison the current model, is it quiet? or fans always running?
Does the case line up? Random shutdowns? Please current model only......

the fans always run at about 1700 - 1800rpm. Its basically silent, I only ever hear them when I play Civ 4. The build quality on mine at least is superb, no dead pixels, random shutdowns or misshaped case. It gets warm but never hot. All in all, I'm delighted with it. Also, if you live in the UK and buy a stock configuration chances are you'll get it in under 24hours.

My new one is awesome. No problems out of the box and the fan, when they run, are not loud. I have put lots of stress on mine over the last week converting 15 AVI movies to mp4, with both cores running hard and it keeps chugging along. I was a little worried after what everyone has said, but this one seems to be right on par with my iBook, no problems handles everything I do. **knocks on wood**

I would say give it another go.:)

I was a toss up between the the 15" MBP or the macbook, Ireally like the size of the macbook, the only reason i would get a pro is the light up keyboard....so I am thinking of maxing a macbook out, and be done with it....however i have a bad arm and the macbook is a bit smaller

My new Macbook is great. For what I do it runs right with my 17". In fact I like it so much I was almost going to sell my 17. I'd go for it.

The light up keyboard is pretty awesome but it is also really sensitive. If this is the ONLY reason you want to switch, I don't think it is worth it. I bought my mbp b/c of the graphics card and ram. The light up keyboard is cool but the "sensors" are in the speakers and everytime I type a number the screen dims and the keys light up. I changed mine to manual settings but it is still a slight pain b/c I just want it to work. Yeah, I know I am selfish and a bit unreasonable but...

Good machine. Case closes snugly, and the fan makes little or no noise for the most part. The screen is crisp and clear with a good viewing angle and the processor has made a remarkably good job of some fairly meaty Photoshop tasks.

Keyboard is very nice to use despite looking slightly odd, the trackpad is great and the case is so nicely formed that I want to stroke it.

Heat is a minor issue, insofar as I have found the underside becoming too hot to sit directly on my legs after a couple of hours. However, I note that Apple specifically caution against putting the laptop on anything other than a hard, flat surface to avoid interfering with the internal cooling systems.

Cheers

Jim

just picked up mine two days ago, and have been very pleased with it so far. only time i've heard the fan running at all is when i played a game of tic-tac-toe :p
